Okay this is what I figured out. For Flickr, IGNORE the "blog this" feature. It is worthless and either makes the picture too big or too small.
Instead, right-click the picture and "copy image location." Then, on blogger, click on the little "add image" button and paste that url into the "pic from the web" box, at whatever size and alignment you want (this was large/center).
