How I Feel About Books and Writing

I feel as though I will never achieve greatness or for that matter not even goodness. As they say “you are your own worst critic.” But if that were the case then nothing would ever reach the light of freaking day, unless we let things slide things we might even hate. Maybe I’ve just been reading too much heavy material, and maybe I am being overly dramatic about my work, even if all this is true it wont make me feel any better knowing its all just in my head, I feel so pathetic and insignificant what could I possibly say that hasn’t already been said or re-said?

There just pretty empty words.

I love the smell and feel of a book a good book an old book and new books or a short book its exhilarating and fascinating like having a new lover, and I have had many, many lovers some I hated some I felt were only adequate and all the others I have loved, more than love, adore admire, relish, and optically fixated. As I stroll through the bookstore and flirt and flit through potential lovers I have a feeling that no one else but me could feel so about books. THEIR JUST BOOKS I KNOW THAT! But these feelings are like second nature like animal instinct, compelled, magnetized, chained. How miserable you must think I am, how could anyone think of only books? Well I’ll tell you: I am in love with the written word. The process the frustration the inconceivable gratification from success, though I have never been one of the successful.

Which brings me back to my initial point, if anyone would care to remember, why do all my efforts seem to come to absolutely nothing I feel as though I cant see the forest through the trees, but I know I’m in the forest and hopelessly lost. I have seen the end result of work forced through such horrid trials of writers block, inspiration droughts and a complete and utter disgust for ones own work, and it lies in two places not one.

Either this new spawned bastard takes his place at the front of the menagerie and has a shiny new book cover that beckons to those who enter this intellectual red light district, or this miserable piece of refuse lands a splendid back flip on the table right behind the shiny grail of literature and is branded like mindless soulless cattle with a 30% off sticker and an Oprah recommended sign above its lackluster abhorrent little cover.

But even if this is the hellish outcome for some I feel not even my works (if any poor shumck ever came along and wanted to actually publish my trash) could have that impact it would not be deserving of the irremovable 30% percent off sticker, the sickeningly obnoxious Oprah sign, the second table, not even the contemptible stares made by shallow Abercrombie produced youth. Oh how I loathe my dollar tree style of writing!

I know how every thing should be down to the very last hair on the pigs chin, but to put into words of what I know inside to be remarkable is near impossible for me. My brain spasms with character building and writhes with plot holes. I believe I have been cursed for the willingness even eagerness to write but produce only well arranged turd’s on a silver plate.

I am an island and I am alone in my ocean of words.

The End Of The Internet?

Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP's all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These 'other' sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet.

Dylan Pattyn *, who is currently writing an article for Time Magazine on the issue, has official confirmation from sources within Bell Canada and is interviewing a marketing representative from TELUS who confirms the story and states that TELUS has already started blocking all websites that aren't in the subscription package for mobile Internet access. They could not confirm whether it would happen in 2012 because both stated it may actually happen sooner (as early as 2010). Interviews with these sources, more confirmation from other sources and more in-depth information on the issue is set to be published in Time Magazine soon.

Single-horned 'Unicorn' deer found in Italy

ROME (AP) — A deer with a single horn in the center of its head — much like the fabled, mythical unicorn — has been spotted in a nature preserve in Italy, park officials said Wednesday.
"This is fantasy becoming reality," Gilberto Tozzi, director of the Center of Natural Sciences in Prato, told The Associated Press. "The unicorn has always been a mythological animal."
The 1-year-old Roe Deer — nicknamed "Unicorn" — was born in captivity in the research center's park in the Tuscan town of Prato, near Florence, Tozzi said.
He is believed to have been born with a genetic flaw; his twin has two horns.
Calling it the first time he has seen such a case, Tozzi said such anomalies among deer may have inspired the myth of the unicorn.
The unicorn, a horse-like creature with magical healing powers, has appeared in legends and stories throughout history, from ancient and medieval texts to the adventures of Harry Potter.
"This shows that even in past times, there could have been animals with this anomaly," he said by telephone. "It's not like they dreamed it up."
Single-horned deer are rare but not unheard of — but even more unusual is the central positioning of the horn, experts said.
"Generally, the horn is on one side (of the head) rather than being at the center. This looks like a complex case," said Fulvio Fraticelli, scientific director of Rome's zoo. He said the position of the horn could also be the result of a trauma early in the animal's life.
Other mammals are believed to contribute to the myth of the unicorn, including the narwhal, a whale with a long, spiraling tusk.

Stupid Law In Georgia

-If an organization non registered as "non-profit" fails to register their raffle with the local sheriff, that group risks paying up to 10,000 in fines and spending five years in jail.

-While Georgia operates on it's own lottery, it "protects" it's citizens by making it illegal to promote a private lottery.

_ The term "sadomasochistic abuse" is defined so broadly, that it could possibly be applied to a person handcuffing another in a clown suit.

-All sex toys are banned

-It is illegal to use profanity in front of a dead body which lies in a funeral home or in a coroners office.

-Members of the state assembly cannot be ticketed for speeding while the state assembly is in session.

-Donkeys may not be kept in bathtubs.

-Signs are required to be written in english.

-No one may carry an ice cream cone in their back pocket if it is sunday.

Stupid Thing Has No Idea What I'm Like

What Your Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich Means

Your eating style is gluttonous. If you like something, you're going back for seconds... no matter how full you are!

You have a total sweet tooth. When you can get away with it, you like to have dessert before dinner!

Your taste in food tends to be pretty flexible. You may crave sushi one night, and your favorite childhood recipe the next.

Admit it, you're a little trashy and low class at times. You're definitely more comfortable at a tattoo parlor than the theater.

You are a tough person who isn't afraid to live life fully. There isn't a lot that scares you.

Precise and controlled, you can be a bit anal retentive when it comes to how you like things. You're definitely a perfectionist.

What Color Is Your Brain??

Your Mind is Purple

Of all the mind types, yours is the most idealistic.

You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.

Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.

Paranoia's and Weird Ticks

I often catch myself thinking and doing things that I don't think anyone else fears or does.
For instance:
- I have a fear that if I put my feet underneath the seat in front of me in the car it will brake and fall and crush my feet.

-If I wash one hand I need to wash the other or else I don't feel even, the same goes for my feet (and when I wash my hands I like to wipe my mouth with the damp part of the towel.)

-I have a fear that when I ride in the car and I lean my back against the door it might open and I could fall completely out or half way out in which case my hair would get caught under the wheel of the car and I would lose part or all of my scalp.

-I have a fear the I will get some sort of cancer because I charge my phone and leave it on the bed with me while I sleep.

-really old people freak me out.

-I count the seconds on the clock if I can hear it.

maybe I'm not alone in these things if so it would be welcome news to know I'm not a freak...

I don't eh...

A homeless woman who sneaked into a man's house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man's closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.

The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.

One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.

"We searched the house ... checking everywhere someone could possibly hide," Itakura said. "When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side."

The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man's house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.

She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman "neat and clean."

How creepy would it be to know for a year someone was in your house with you and you never knew? I admire this person.

Why I Like the Sixties

Because it's like another universe, with different rules that everyone knows but you, and you're this lost traveler seeing things that are kinda familiar...but are actually so far from reality it's pointless to try and understand.

Plus the music is pretty great. I just rocked this, yogurt in hand. It was pretty intense.

(Btw the studio version has great double vocals, two guys singing different things at once. It's like one great big musical orgy.)

Weird Dreams

I had a dream the other night that myself and Joel were on a space station. (we were scientists) and we were growing plants in space to see what effect would happen to those plants. And the entrance to the sleeping quarters looked like the deck of a pirate ship!! it was such an awesome dream!!!

THE DREAM CHRONICLES, Vol. 1--Typical Chase Scenes, and a Relatively Recent Development

I have a long history of dreams. While this in and of itself is nothing unique (I'm sure you have plenty of dreams yourself), I like to think my habit of recording and cataloging said dreams sets me apart--at least a little--from the billions of other dreamers out there. I don't know. Maybe it just makes me weird.

But anyway, ever since I starting keeping track of these things, sometime in middle school I believe, I've noticed several interesting trends. One is that the more I work at it, the more I can control what happens in my dreams. I can't necessarily dictate what I dream about, but I can at least control my own actions. That's pretty cool, but sadly, I haven't been able to do that for a while. My insomnia hasn't been as bad the past few months, so I've been sleeping more deeply and remembering less and less of my dreams.

Last night, however, was a different story. While I wasn't exactly able to enter lucid dreaming and do all the fun things you can do when you know you're asleep, another common trend reared it's ugly head: chase dreams. Particularly, Evil People Like Nazis Out To Get Me and Nobody is Willing To Help.

This time I was living in some kind of apartment complex, and over the course of the dream, I became aware of the fact that my roommate was a psycho. She was cutting up people and storing their body parts in her closet. Sensing that I am her next victim, I quickly try to call the police.

But something stops me: my fingers can't dial the number. Every time they go in to hit those lifesaving buttons, 9-1-1, they miss, or slip off, or the button I thought was a nine was actually a seven. This particular dream element has happened to me so many times lately it's ridiculous. I think this phone actually had two number nines, except only one of them worked. Needless to say, it was quite frustrating.

Especially since my roommate appeared about halfway through with a very large knife and started swinging.

So I run, from apartment to apartment, through the night and in the dark, looking for someone with an operable telephone. Somewhere in there, I find Odd Cake, and together we flee this raging maniac and her minions, who seem to be everywhere.

Case in point, this guy, from Lost. He's teaching some kind of seminar in one of the apartments Odd Cake and I seek refuge in. Yes, he's got a phone, and sure, he'd dial 911 for me (thought I'd play it safe in case this one has wonky buttons too). Trouble is, he's also got a gun, and he wants to make an example of us.

I don't know why he kills us, but in the end I realize what's going on and try to warn Odd Cake. To no avail. He's shot, then me, and suddenly we're lying in a puddle of blood. It was so fast, so painless, but obviously we're dying and there's nothing we can do. So I reach out for Odd Cake's hand, and hold it, hoping that when they find our bodies they will know that, in this world of senseless killings and death, two people cared for each other until the end.

Dwarves, Aliens, A Little Hitler, and Evidence that Wales is the Coolest Country Ever

All right, lots of links tonight people, so bear with me.

  • First off we got the seminal Dwarves story. No, not Snow White, this here is a bit more sinister. My favorite part is the quote from the Stockholm Police Spokesman: "We are looking at our records to identify criminals of limited stature." Ha! Limited stature! I don't know about Sweden, but when I took a long distance coach from Glasgow to Manchester, there was no record of my "stature" kept. Or, so I'd like to think...
  • Second, the Vatican says it's okay to believe in Aliens. Well that's good, I was feeling a little worried there for a while.
  • Now the little Hitler, as promised.
  • And last but not least, evidence that Wales is the Coolest Country on the planet. I had heard several years ago that Britain had made Jedi an official religion, but I gathered that it was mostly a joke...seems they have services and everything now. And if anyone can find that video, they will be richly rewarded.
And here's the promised link to photos....I feel bad though that there's not more of Becky, even though it is her party. This is before I really got to know you.... :(

....And one more for the road!

couldn't fit in this last one but I think we all look so nice!!!
